Home equity in Texas works a little differently
Texas has its own rules for borrowing against the home you live in. They're designed to protect homeowners, and we'll guide you through each one:
- Up to 80% of your home's value. Your first mortgage plus your home equity loan or HELOC can total up to 80% of your home's value.
- Fixed-rate and adjustable options. Choose a fixed-rate home equity loan, a fixed-rate HELOC, or an adjustable-rate HELOC.
- A 12-day waiting period. Texas requires a notice to be sent to all owners at least 12 days before closing. We'll send it early so it doesn't slow you down.
- Everyone on title signs. All owners and spouses sign the required notice, even if they aren't on the loan.
- Closing in person. Texas home equity loans close in person at a title company office. Remote closings aren't allowed.
- Eligible homes. Single-family homes you live in, on up to 10 acres.
