Process

What to expect, from first call to closing day

Getting a mortgage is a lot easier when you know what's coming next. Here's how the process works, step by step. We'll guide you through each one and keep you updated along the way.

Before you start: talk with us

Tell us about your goals: buying, refinancing, or using your equity. We'll recommend the loan options that fit and let you know what documents you'll need. No paperwork is needed for this first conversation.

The six steps

  • Documentation: Share your income, asset, and property documents.
  • Appraisal: A licensed appraiser confirms the home's value.
  • Underwriting: The underwriter reviews your full application.
  • Conditional Approval: Your loan is approved, with a short list of final items.
  • Clear to Close: Everything is complete and your closing is scheduled.
  • Closing: You sign your documents and the loan funds.

How long does it take?

Many loans close in about 30 days, though timing depends on the loan type, the appraisal, and how quickly documents come in. We'll give you a realistic timeline for your situation at the start.

Tips to keep things moving

  • Respond quickly to requests for documents. It's the biggest factor you control.
  • Avoid new credit until after closing.
  • Don't move large amounts of money between accounts without letting us know.
  • Tell us about changes to your job, income, or plans right away.

You'll always know where things stand
